Welcome to lucky Issue #7! We're about to head off into the Burning
Man Staff Retreat, our annual post-event review of what the hell
happened, what's up, and how we can make this little shindig all it
can be and then some. We've collected reports from all our staffers,
plenty of our volunteers, and a heaping helping of participants-at-
large through our Feedback Loop. Thanks to all of you who submitted
thoughts, praises and complaints to be factored into our considered
(and considerable) self-reflection process. Woot.
Lots of random things to throw your way this time around, including
London Decompression (December 1), and opportunities to participate
in various ways. How, you say? Well, Burners Without Borders heads
down to Peru to help with the rebuilding after a devastating
earthquake, and you can help! Then we've got a small handful of
shout-outs for submissions of photos and videos, and ... um ... star-
bellied sneetches.
Finally, we take a moment brighten your screen and moisten your
eyeballs a wee bit with beautiful photographs from our friend
Waldemar Horwat. As always, he's taken some gorgeous shots of that
hootenanny (that's a technical term) in the desert that was fondly
remembered as Burning Man 2007.

HELP BURNERS WITHOUT BORDERS ASSIST PERUVIAN EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
Burners Without Borders Heads Up: Construction in Earthquake
Devastated Peru:
You can volunteer, you can help!
A devastating earthquake hit Pisco, Peru on August 15, 2007, leaving
80,000 people without homes. The manner in which the Peruvian
Government is handling this makes FEMA look like Daddy Warbucks. The
good news? When everybody has nothing, every gesture matters.
Sam Bloch, Burning Man Cafe carpenter, electrician, and seasoned
disaster relief volunteer, left in October to head up construction of
a school and hospital in Pisco. Sam spearheaded the construction of
community centers for eight months with Thailand Tsunami Volunteers,
which was rated the best non-profit in Thailand by the Lonely Planet
Guide. He is paying his own way, bringing his own tools, and is
creating a sustainable Burners Without Borders volunteer group in
Pisco - so that the Burner community may work together to help those
hardest hit by the earthquake.
The skills and resources of this community can make a big difference

SEEKING BRC VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPHS FOR ADVOCACY PROJECT
New York based pedestrian and cyclist advocacy group is looking for
video footage or stills of cyclists, art cars, mutant vehicles,
pedestrians, public spaces (such as center camp), street signs, and
theme camps (especially Astor Playa), for inclusion in a short
documentary about the pedestrian and cyclist nature of BRC.
All of our work is for advocacy and educational use only. No profits
will be gained from the film.
Contributors will receive full credit for the piece and loads of good
karma for their gift. If your footage is used for the piece but you
were not a registered camera person during the event, don't worry. We
will make sure to get you registered so there are no problems with BRC.
Nudity and non-PG footage won't be usable, so don't bother sending
it, but please feel free to gift anything else. Spread the Black Rock
love.
The video will be sent to BRC for approval before it is released, so
everything is above board. Can't wait to see your contributions!

"WHAT WOULD JESUS BUY?" TRAILER GOES MAINSTREAM
[Editor's Note: A little backstory here. Reverend Billy's Church of
Stop Shopping is a longstanding bastion of Burning Man's principles,
and an unstoppable juggernaut crossing the country challenging our
culture's apparently insatiable need to shop til you drop, or go
bankrupt, whichever comes first. Plus, Billy's hair is FABULOUS.
"What Would Jesus Buy?" is their most excellent documentary, well
worth your consideration. Rob worked on the Beyond Black Rock Film,
and our very own ActionGrrl took time off last year to work with
their film crew. And with that, I'll pass it off to Rob ....]

stick it to the System, and a very big break for us thanks to our
tireless PR team. We're guaranteed to be up here in mainstream USA

So please feel free to spread the word and make some glorious
comments that would entice Jane and John America to come check out
this fun, important, and fascinating film with their kids, friends,
extended families, church groups, gangs, etc, this November / December!
Unfortunately, you do have to sign up with AOL to make comments, but
you don't need to share personal info (heck, make up fake birthdays,
zip codes and password clues -- it's fun!) and you can cancel at any
time.
The Amercian Gangster trailer is number one at present, with 80,000
views and rising, so we a lot of viewing to do by Monday.

Greetz to Burners one and all. It's that time once again ... you've
been months (maybe even years) off-playa now and memories are fading;
maybe some of you even got the last bits of dust outta yr outfits!
But in yr hearts yr jonesing for a lickle taste o'BRC madness; the
opportunity to re-connect with the fire inside.
So once again it's time for you to get yr big bad selves down to The
London Decompression.
Saturday December 1st is the date.
As usual the location will be sent to ticket holders 2 weeks
beforehand and no tickets are available on the door. Get yrselves

very attractively priced tickets at £12.49 each. At the moment we're
restricting tix to 2 per person. This year we've switched to Google
Checkout for payments as PayPal charge us a nasty percentage. We're

AND... of course... this being a by Burners, for Burners event we'll
be looking forward to each and every one of you contributing to the
